Every pack in the 2026 Topps x KAWS Baseball release guarantees either a parallel, a KAWS Creation insert, a short print, or an autograph. That pull rate alone signals exactly what kind of product this is: a collector-first drop dressed in a baseball uniform. This is not a filler collab. This is the most ambitious artist-driven sports card release of the summer, and serious collectors need a complete breakdown before they commit.

What Is the KAWS x MLB Collection?

Fanatics and Complex designed this limited-edition collection in partnership with Major League Baseball and two of its most iconic franchises, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees, to celebrate their highly anticipated three-game series at Yankee Stadium from July 17 to 19, 2026. The timing amplifies scarcity. Event-driven drops with hard debut windows historically perform better on the secondary market than open-edition releases.

The collection brings KAWS‘ signature “XX” motif and COMPANION character to a wide array of reimagined Yankees and Dodgers merchandise, including Nike jerseys and hats, Rawlings baseballs, Marucci bats, and the Topps trading cards. Most importantly, every physical item in this drop carries the artist’s distinct visual language, not just a co-branded logo slap.

KAWS, the Brooklyn-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, and design, has built a body of work that moves seamlessly between fine art and global culture. His real name is Brian Donnelly, and he even designed and signed SSP cards of himself. That level of personal involvement pushes this release well beyond a licensed product.

The Topps Cards: Pull Rates, Parallels, and What to Chase

The base set contains 60 cards, mixing current stars and retired players together. Base cards feature an eccentric, multi-colored border reminiscent of the 1990 Topps Baseball set, with KAWS’ signature XX symbol in the upper right corner. That design callback matters to vintage collectors and adds a second audience to the chase.

Collectors will find either a parallel, KAWS Creation insert, SP, or autograph in every pack, and there are three packs per box. For reference, most mainstream Topps flagship products do not guarantee a hit per pack, let alone one with artistic crossover significance. This set punches far above its product tier.

The Cards You Must Chase

Previewed player cards include Elly De La Cruz, Paul Skenes, Mookie Betts, Aaron Judge, Cam Schlittler, Konnor Griffin, and Shohei Ohtani. For grading purposes, Ohtani and Judge carry the most PSA pop upside. High-grade copies of artist-collab parallels for franchise players historically command multiples of retail within 90 days of release.

There is also a 5-card KAWS Companion SSP Autographs grouping numbered SSP-K11 through SSP-K15, each listed simply as KAWS. For collectors who want the most artist-specific content in the release, that SSP autograph subset may become one of the toughest and most expensive chases once product reaches the market. The KAWS self-signed SSP is the card this collection gets remembered by in five years.

The cards include parallel versions such as 1-of-1 Superfractors as well as randomly inserted autographs. A PSA 10 Superfractor of Ohtani in this set occupies the same collector psychology as a 1/1 from Topps Transcendent: singular, irreplaceable, and priced to match.

How This Release Compares to Previous Topps Artist Collabs

The KAWS release wins this comparison on every collector metric. Additionally, the artist’s existing secondary market for vinyl figures and prints means his buyer base extends far beyond traditional card collectors.

The Full Collection: Apparel, Bats, and Equipment

The collection spans Nike jerseys, T-shirts, hoodies, and Nike fitted and snapback caps, each incorporating KAWS’ reinterpretation of official team marks with his ubiquitous “XX”. For wearables collectors, the Nike authentic jerseys at $275 (about €245) retail represent the entry point to the apparel side of the drop.

Fanatics and Complex also present the KAWS x MLB Collection for the Los Angeles Dodgers in bat form. The collectible baseball bat features a sleek, metallic Dodger Blue finish layered with KAWS’ signature abstract Companion patterns. Prices range from $40 (about €36) for a KAWS/team baseball, up to $400 (about €355) for the Complex App-exclusive baseball bats, with shirts landing between $80 (about €71) and $90 (about €80), jerseys at $275 (about €245), hats between $60 (about €53) and $65 (about €58), and jackets at $350 (about €310).

The collab also features player exclusives, with NY highlighting Aaron Judge and LA highlighting Shohei Ohtani. These player-specific pieces carry the most crossover demand between baseball fans and KAWS collectors. Consequently, they face the greatest resale pressure.

Context: KAWS in 2026 and Why Timing Matters

KAWS figures have dominated the secondary market for over a decade. However, the artist’s institutional momentum in 2026 specifically makes this MLB drop land differently. Beyond the cards and bats, KAWS holds the position of UNIQLO artist in residence for a global push, extending his reach to millions of buyers who do not follow the traditional collectibles market.

For card collectors, that expanded civilian audience means a larger pool of buyers chasing the same limited supply. As a result, graded copies of the toughest KAWS x Topps pulls will attract bids from art collectors, streetwear buyers, and traditional baseball card collectors simultaneously. That three-way demand is rare and historically produces outsized price appreciation.

This release also builds on prior collaborations between Complex, Fanatics, and MLB, one of which was a World Series capsule by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The Murakami World Series drop proved the format works. Now Topps and Fanatics raise the stakes with an artist whose collector following dwarfs Murakami’s in the Western market.

If you want a direct comparison for the Murakami card format, check the World Tour Tokyo Series Topps Trading Cards Box Set by Takashi Murakami x MLB currently available at Rare Inventory. It illustrates exactly how these artist-Topps collabs age.
