Figures, art toys & limited editions — shipped across Europe from France.

Shop now →

Most serious HxH figures originate as Japanese game center (arcade) prizes. Banpresto and FuRyu dominate this channel. These figures never see wide Western retail distribution, which creates genuine scarcity for international collectors. As a result, imported stock moves at a premium, sometimes 30 to 60 percent above Japanese secondary market prices once you account for shipping and import fees.

Japanese arcade prize figures for top-tier HxH characters like Meruem and Killua regularly sell for two to three times their original crane game value within 18 months of release on platforms like Mercari JP and Yahoo Auctions.

The single most useful thing a new HxH collector can learn is to read the line name before the character name. The line tells you the maker, the sales channel, the typical size and, above all, how many units exist. Here is how the main Hunter x Hunter figure lines differ.

Banpresto’s Vibration Stars series is a prize line built around motion: figures are sculpted mid-action, with clothing and hair caught in movement rather than posed statically. Pieces stand around 16 cm, are cast in PVC and ABS, and ship in the standard Banpresto prize box with the manufacturer’s stamp on the base. For Hunter x Hunter the line matters because it treats the villains seriously. The Meruem Vibration Stars figure is the reference release right now, and we cover it in detail below.

FuRyu is the other pillar of the arcade channel. Its Hunter x Hunter releases tend to be slightly larger, calmer sculpts with a strong focus on face likeness, and the company has quietly covered characters other makers ignore, including members of the Phantom Troupe. Print runs are short and reissues are rare, so a FuRyu HxH figure that sells through usually stays gone. Expect them to surface in Europe only through specialist importers.

Ichiban Kuji is Bandai Spirits’ lottery format: fans buy a ticket in a Japanese convenience store or hobby shop and win a prize tier at random, with the large A and B prize figures being the ones collectors chase. Ichibansho is the same figure quality sold outside the lottery. Hunter x Hunter has had several lottery runs, and their top-tier prizes are among the most detailed HxH figures ever produced at prize scale. The catch is that they were never sold openly outside Japan, so international prices reflect that scarcity from day one.

Good Smile Company covers HxH through Nendoroid and Pop Up Parade releases, which are the easiest quality figures to find at retail during their production window. Kotobukiya’s ARTFX J and Megahouse’s G.E.M. series represent the scale tier, larger, more expensive and produced closer to pre-order volume. These are the pieces that behave like traditional collectibles, with value tracking condition and sealed status.

Killua Zoldyck is the most collected HxH character, full stop. His figures consistently outperform on resale. Gon follows closely, but Meruem represents the most interesting investment case. The Chimera Ant King commands serious collector attention despite being a secondary protagonist. His design complexity, the philosophical weight of his arc, and his relative rarity in figure form all push demand higher than casual fans expect.

The Japanese Arcade Market Factor
