Most One Piece collectors stop at Luffy. The truly great shelves stop at Whitebeard’s commanders, because that is where the real visual drama lives. Three Battle Record Collection figures from Banpresto give you Marco, Jozu, and Vista as a unified diorama for €35 each, and together they form one of the most emotionally resonant displays in all of anime figure collecting.

Whitebeard pirates figures from the Battle Record Collection are the most accessible way to build a commanders display: all three figures stand approximately 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall, share a matching visual scale, and cost €35 each. Banpresto engineered them as a set in everything but name, and any collector who buys one will immediately want the other two.

Mistake #1: Skipping the Commanders Because You Only Know Ace

Most new collectors hear “Whitebeard Pirates” and think of Portgas D. Ace. That is completely understandable. However, Ace occupies the 2nd Division commander slot. The three figures covered here represent an entirely different tier of the crew’s leadership.

Marco the Phoenix serves as the former 1st division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. Starting out as an apprentice on the crew, he became Whitebeard’s closest confidant and right-hand man. Jozu commanded the combat division and possessed the Kira Kira no Mi, which gave him a diamond body, making him one of the most durable fighters in the series. As Whitebeard’s “diamond shield,” Jozu’s defensive capabilities were nearly unparalleled. Vista served as the commander of the 5th division of the Whitebeard Pirates, and the strongest swordsman in the entire crew, his very division specializing in that discipline.

So, before you dismiss these three as secondary characters, understand this: they are the inner circle. Collectors who overlook them typically regret it once they discover the Marineford arc in full. Buy the figures first. Watch the arc later. The emotional payoff works either way.

Mistake #2: Not Understanding What Battle Record Collection Actually Means

Collectors new to anime figures often face a wall of confusing product line names. “Battle Record Collection” sounds vague. In practice, it is one of Banpresto’s most consistent premium prize figure lines, reserved for characters with major combat significance in their respective arcs.

What “Prize Figure” Means for Your Budget

Banpresto is a Japanese company famed for its detailed collectible items, including the Banpresto figures, Q Posket, Vibration Stars, and more. The term “prize figure” originally described items distributed through Japanese arcade crane games. However, today Banpresto releases them through standard retail and online channels globally. Prize figures sit one tier below dedicated collector-grade statues in terms of complexity, but they punch far above their price point in sculpt quality. At €35, the Battle Record figures deliver painted, non-articulated sculpts that hold up at arm’s length on any shelf.

Each figure in the Battle Record Collection is a painted, non-articulated, non-scale figure standing approximately 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall. Non-articulated means no moving joints. That is not a limitation here. It means the sculptor locked in the single most powerful pose for each character, and nothing can accidentally spoil it.

Spotting a Bootleg Before You Buy

Whitebeard pirates figures attract counterfeits precisely because demand outpaces supply at launch. First, check the box. The product box must carry a Bandai Namco warning label, which confirms you are purchasing an officially licensed product. Second, examine the paint seams around the face. Bootlegs consistently show bleed at the hairline and dull, flat eyes. Third, genuine Banpresto figures carry crisp kanji stamping on the base. If that text looks soft or smeared, walk away. Finally, always buy from authorised retailers. Rare Inventory sources directly from official distributors, so every figure arrives with its original closed-box packaging intact.

Mistake #3: Buying Marco Without Understanding His Transformation

Marco’s Battle Record figure is the visual anchor of this trio, and collectors who buy it without knowing his power often miss exactly what they are looking at.

Marco, better known as “Marco the Phoenix,” is the former 1st Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. He joined Whitebeard’s crew as an apprentice very young and worked his way up to become Whitebeard’s right-hand man and closest confidant. His Devil Fruit, the Tori Tori no Mi Model: Phoenix, makes him a Mythical Zoan type, one of the rarest classifications in the entire series. In mid-transformation, he generates brilliant blue phoenix flames that do not burn, but heal. Every wound seals itself. In combat terms, he is functionally unkillable in short bursts.

The Marco Battle Record Collection Figure captures him at exactly that moment of transformation. The blue flame detailing around his lower body reads as the phoenix wing form beginning to emerge. For collectors unfamiliar with the character, it simply looks like a dynamic fighter mid-attack. For anyone who has watched Marineford, it hits differently. That duality is what separates a great sculpt from a merely accurate one.
