Can three generations of the same bloodline share one shelf and actually look like they belong together? The answer, for the D. family, is yes, and Banpresto made it possible without you having to hunt across five different figure lines.

The Monkey D. Garp figure, the Portgas D. Ace figure, and the Monkey D. Luffy figure all exist in Banpresto’s Battle Record Collection at the same non-scale prize figure format, making a matched three-generation family display achievable for around €105 total. Each piece stands between 14 and 15 cm tall, shares the same production quality and PVC/ABS construction, and arrives in dynamic combat poses that complement rather than compete with each other.

A Family in One Scale: Why the Battle Record Collection Makes This Possible

Banpresto launched the Battle Record Collection as a premium tier within its prize figure ecosystem. Prize figures, for new collectors, originate as arcade crane game prizes in Japan. However, Banpresto treats this format seriously: the Battle Record Collection showcases carefully selected One Piece characters in exciting combat stances, and these figures are highly detailed, meticulously sculpted, and powerfully engaging. They sit a clear step above generic prize figures in terms of paint finish and pose dynamism.

Moreover, the line commits to a consistent footprint. Garp stands at approximately 5.9 inches (15 cm) tall, while Luffy stands at approximately 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall in his Egghead outfit. That slight height difference actually mirrors the characters’ physical proportions in the manga. For collectors who care about display logic, this is a feature, not a flaw.

Additionally, these are painted, non-articulated, non-scale figures, which means each sculptor had creative freedom to prioritize drama over rigid scale accuracy. The result: three figures that feel like a single artistic statement when placed together.

The D. Bloodline: A Story Worth Displaying

Garp is the father of Dragon, the grandfather to Luffy, and the adopted grandfather to Ace. That single sentence carries the weight of the entire saga. Because of this family structure, no other trio in One Piece carries the same emotional charge. Displaying them together is not decoration, it is storytelling made physical.

Garp oversaw Ace’s birth and raised a young Luffy, before entrusting them both to the Dadan Family. So the grandfather-grandson bond predates the pirate adventure entirely. Furthermore, as a Vice Admiral of the Marine Headquarters, Garp mentored many prominent figures in the Marines, including former Admiral Kuzan. The man who shaped two future legends also shaped the entire Marine generation around them.
