Europe watched The Super Mario Galaxy Movie 23 days before Japan did. Nintendo and Illumination opened the film in British, French and German cinemas on 1 April 2026, while Japanese audiences waited until 24 April. As a result, the first wave of movie-driven demand for super mario collectibles hit European shops before it reached Tokyo. The film then posted a reported 372 million dollar global opening weekend, the biggest of 2026 at that point. However, the pieces serious collectors chased were not cinema tie-ins. Instead, they were Japanese collaborations that already existed: a G-SHOCK, a UNO deck, a plush cushion and a skateboard. This countdown ranks all four, from number four up to the single piece we would buy first.

The super mario collectibles worth buying in Europe in 2026 are the G-SHOCK x Super Mario Bros. DW-5600SMB-4JR, the THREE WEATHER x Super Mario skateboard deck, the Gelato Pique x Super Mario Star cushion and the UNO Super Mario card game. Each one carries an official Nintendo licence, and each one originated in Japan rather than in the movie merchandising pipeline. Below, we count down from fourth place to first and explain why the watch wins.

Why the Super Mario Galaxy Movie Matters for Super Mario Collectibles

A sequel that opened in Europe first

The release calendar tells the story. Nintendo originally announced a 3 April 2026 date, then pulled it forward to 1 April for the UK, France, Germany and most other markets. Meanwhile, Japan kept its later 24 April slot. For European collectors, that gap mattered more than any trailer. Shops in Paris, London and Berlin felt the surge first, and the Japanese collaboration pieces on their shelves disappeared before Japanese fans had even seen the film.

Movie merch versus Japanese collaborations

Cinema tie-in products come in huge print runs, and they rarely hold value. In contrast, the four items in this countdown come from Japanese brands with their own fan bases: Casio, Mattel, Gelato Pique and THREE WEATHER. Because of this, collectors buy them for the collaboration, not for the film. The movie simply reminded a few million Europeans that Mario exists. Still, the ranking below rewards scarcity, design and long-term shelf appeal over hype, and the order counts down to the best.

Which Super Mario Collectibles Rank Fourth and Third?

Number four: UNO Super Mario Card Game by Mattel (€20)

Mattel and Nintendo first released a Mario edition of UNO for the Japanese market in 2018, long before any Illumination film existed. That heritage earns it a place here. The deck swaps the standard colour suits for Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach artwork, and it adds one mechanic you will not find in a regular pack. Specifically, the Super Star card grants a one-turn invincibility shield. If an opponent plays a Draw 2 or a Wild Draw 4 against you, the Super Star deflects the penalty back at them. For example, a family game night in Lyon turns into a Mario Kart-style ambush very quickly.

It ranks fourth because it is the most accessible item on the list, not because it is weak. At €20, the UNO Super Mario Card Game is the cheapest way to own an official Nintendo licence from a major toy company. Moreover, sealed decks are the ones that keep value. Most buyers open and play theirs, so an unopened box becomes scarcer every year without any help from the movie.
