Bandai Spirits & Banpresto Collectible Figures: The Complete Guide for Serious Collectors
Not all anime figures are the same. Some sit in a drawer and collect dust. Others anchor a display, hold their value, and make every visitor stop and look. Bandai Spirits and Banpresto figures belong in the second group. If you want to understand why these lines stand apart and which pieces deserve a place in your collection, this guide covers everything you need to know.
Who Is Bandai Spirits?
Bandai is one of the most recognized names in Japanese entertainment. The company started in 1950 and built its reputation across toys, model kits, and trading cards. Today, Bandai Spirits operates as its dedicated collector-grade division. Its mission is clear: bring the most iconic anime, manga, and pop culture characters to life at the highest possible quality level.
Furthermore, Bandai Spirits owns Banpresto, the label responsible for prize figures and collector lines that have shaped the anime figure market for decades. Together, they cover every level of the collector space, from entry-level prize figures to large-scale premium releases that command serious display space.

The Lines That Matter: A Collector’s Overview
Bandai Spirits and Banpresto produce dozens of figure lines. However, a handful of them consistently attract the most collector attention. Understanding those lines helps you make smarter buying decisions.
Grandista
The Grandista line sits at the top of Banpresto’s display figure range. These pieces stand significantly taller than standard figures, typically between 25 and 30 cm and focus on dramatic, expressive sculpts that look powerful from across a room. The line prioritizes character presence over articulation. As a result, each Grandista figure works best as a centerpiece rather than a poseable toy.
At Rare Inventory, we carry several key Grandista releases:
The Whitebeard (Edward Newgate) Grandista Figure captures one of One Piece’s greatest legends at full scale. The sculpt conveys his size, authority, and reputation in every detail. For One Piece collectors, specifically, this is one of the most commanding display pieces on the market.
The Gogeta Super Saiyan Grandista Figure brings Dragon Ball Super’s most explosive fusion warrior to life. Gogeta represents the peak of what Banpresto can do with the Dragon Ball license. Sharp detail, strong pose, and a size that fills a shelf, this piece delivers on all three.
The Gojo Satoru Grandista Figure tops the Jujutsu Kaisen figure wishlist for most collectors. Gojo is the strongest sorcerer in the series, and Banpresto gives him a sculpt that matches that status. White hair, blindfold, confident stance, exactly how fans want to see him.
Maximatic
The Maximatic line takes a different approach. Where Grandista focuses on scale and display presence, Maximatic prioritizes sculptural detail and pose intensity. These figures tend to be more dynamic, with complex compositions that reward close inspection.
The Sukuna Special Ver. Maximatic Figure ranks among the strongest releases in the entire Jujutsu Kaisen figure catalog. Sukuna in his special version shows the King of Curses at his most threatening. The detail work on the tattoos, the expression, and the overall composition make this a must-have for Jujutsu Kaisen collectors.
Monitor Top
The Monitor Top line focuses on seated character figures for desk and shelf display. These pieces sit lower than standing figures and carry a different energy, calmer, more intimate, but no less detailed.
The Vaggie Monitor Top Figure Vol. 2 (Dark Ver.) and the Pink Ver. offer two takes on the same beloved Hazbin Hotel character. Both capture Vaggie’s guarded personality precisely. The Dark Ver. leans into contrast, white hair against dark tones. The Pink Ver., on the other hand, matches her signature look from the Amazon Prime series. Together, they make a strong pair for any Hazbin Hotel display.
Beyond Figures: Model Kits and Proplica
Bandai Spirits doesn’t stop at pre-painted figures. Two other product lines deserve serious collector attention.
Grand Ship Collection Model Kits
The Grand Ship Collection line lets you build iconic vessels from One Piece by hand. The Going Merry Grand Ship Collection Model Kit stands as one of the most emotionally significant releases in the line. The Going Merry carried the Straw Hat Pirates through their earliest adventures and remains one of the most beloved ships in all of anime. Building it yourself adds a personal connection that no pre-built figure can replicate. Moreover, the finished model displays beautifully at any scale.
Proplica
The Proplica line produces life-sized or near-life-sized prop replicas from anime and video games. These are display-grade objects for collectors who want to own a piece of their favorite universe at a scale that feels real.
The Legend of Zelda Master Sword Proplica is exactly that kind of piece. The Master Sword is one of gaming’s most recognized weapons. Bandai Spirits builds this replica with the finish it deserves, sound effects, a light-up blade, and the presence to anchor any gaming collection.

A Special Entry: Godzilla by Banpresto
Not every Banpresto release draws from anime or manga. The Godzilla 2004 Final Wars Monsters Roar Attack Figure proves that Banpresto brings the same sculptural care to kaiju as it does to anime characters. Jaws open, claws raised, every scale and spike in place, this figure captures the Final Wars Godzilla at his most aggressive. For kaiju collectors, moreover, finding this piece in sealed condition takes real effort.
Why Buy Bandai Spirits and Banpresto Figures
Several factors make these figures a strong collector choice beyond the obvious appeal of the characters themselves.
First, quality control. Bandai Spirits and Banpresto set the standard for paint accuracy and sculpt consistency in the anime figure market. Each piece ships with the same finish as the prototype. That consistency matters when you display figures side by side.
Second, franchise depth. No other manufacturer covers as many major anime and gaming licenses as Bandai Spirits. From One Piece to Dragon Ball, from Jujutsu Kaisen to Zelda, their catalog spans the entire landscape of Japanese pop culture. Consequently, collectors who follow multiple franchises can build a unified collection from a single trusted source.
Third, sealed condition value. Grandista and Maximatic figures that sell out on the primary market regularly appear on the secondary market at higher prices. Buying sealed from a trusted source is therefore the right move for anyone thinking long-term.
