Some objects carry a story that goes far beyond what they look like. The Verdy × Dover Street Market Visty Plush (Brown) is one of them. Standing 65 cm tall and covered in premium fluffy fur, this plush is not a toy. It’s a limited-edition collectible born during one of the most difficult periods in recent history, sold exclusively at one of the most important retail events in Verdy’s career, and impossible to find anywhere else in the world today. If you collect at the intersection of streetwear, contemporary art, and emotional storytelling, this is the piece.
Who is Verdy?
Born in 1987 in Osaka Prefecture, Verdy first moved to Tokyo in 2012 and worked as part of the illustrator and graphic design group VK Design Works. From there, he built one of the most distinctive creative universes in contemporary Japanese culture.
He is notably known for his iconic projects Girls Don’t Cry and Wasted Youth, his panda-rabbit character Vick, and most recently Visty. Furthermore, Verdy is a close collaborator to leading cultural figures such as Pharrell Williams and Nigo. His work has appeared on stages, in galleries, and in collabs with Nike, Levi’s, Human Made, Louis Vuitton, and Dover Street Market, among many others.
In 2021, he entered the contemporary art world by opening his first solo show, Rise Above, at Kaikai Kiki, the Tokyo gallery owned by his mentor Takashi Murakami. That exhibition introduced Visty to the world as a three-dimensional sculpture for the first time. As a result, the character quickly became one of the most talked-about figures in Japanese collectible culture.
Who is Visty?
Visty is Verdy’s second signature character, and the one with the most personal emotional weight behind it.
Visty is colorful and cheerful. Verdy created him as a direct response to the pandemic, to bring a sense of joy and happiness to people going through tough times. In that sense, Visty stands as a complete contrast to Vick, Verdy’s first character, monochrome, sharp-edged, and rooted in punk culture. Visty, on the other hand, brings warmth, color, and softness.
In the Rise Above exhibition, the Visty sculpture appeared intentionally beat up, representing the feelings of defeat and discouragement Verdy experienced when he moved to Tokyo to pursue graphic design and was told there was no future in it. That emotional layer makes Visty far more than a mascot. He carries the artist’s own experience of pushing forward despite doubt.
Verdy sees Visty becoming a staple character within his generation, similar in cultural weight to how KAWS’ Companion operates within its own universe. Consequently, industry observers already draw that direct comparison, Vick and Visty operating in the same cultural space as Companion to KAWS.
The Dover Street Market collaboration: why this plush is exceptional
Dover Street Market kicked off its fall 2025 roster with a summer gift shop pop-up in partnership with Verdy, marking his debut in London. The event drew immediate attention. The first release drew long queues at DSM’s Piccadilly store.

Products included DSM-only Vick-print tees, a life-size Visty plush, and limited pieces from Girls Don’t Cry, Wasted Youth, Capitana, and Verdy and Friends. The Visty plush was one of the centerpieces of that first drop, a giant, fluffy presence that stopped people in front of the store window.
Moreover, the product description on Rare Inventory makes the scarcity of this piece completely clear: this plush sold exclusively at Verdy’s Gift Shop at Dover Street Market and never went through official domestic release anywhere else. In other words, the only way to own one outside of that specific pop-up event is to find one through a specialized source.
The plush itself: what you’re actually buying
- Color: Brown
- Height: 65 cm
- Width: 38 cm
- Material: Premium fluffy fur with satisfying weight
The Brown colorway is one of the most wearable and display-friendly versions of Visty. It sits naturally in any environment, streetwear display, art shelf, or living space, without demanding the kind of context that more graphic colorways require. Additionally, the fluffy fur texture and the weight of the piece make it feel premium in hand, not like standard merchandise.
This is, specifically, the version sold at Dover Street Market London, not a standard retail release, not a domestic product, and not available through any conventional channel.
Why this piece holds collector value
Several factors position this Visty plush at a serious level within the collectible market.
First, exclusive distribution. Verdy famously refuses e-commerce and favors physical pop-ups with limited quantities. He prefers pop-ups because they allow him to see who wears his designs and meet his fans directly, and he avoids online releases because of bots and resellers. As a result, pieces from his events almost never reach the secondary market in quantity.
Second, the DSM context. Dover Street Market is not a regular retail partner. Verdy himself said that doing his first London project through DSM felt right because of the store’s connection to Rei Kawakubo, one of the greatest Japanese designers. That cultural alignment adds weight to every piece sold in that space.
Third, Visty’s trajectory. The character is still early in its arc. Visty continues to appear in major cultural moments, including a life-size plush at the DSM London pop-up that drew crowds from the street. As the character grows in visibility, early physical pieces from key events grow in significance alongside it.
