Who is MNNK Bro.?
The collaborative unit MNNK Bro. (Mononoke Brothers) consists of contemporary artist Takashi Murakami and rapper JP THE WAVY. Their partnership started in a very specific way. Murakami heard JP THE WAVY’s music at his daughter’s dance recital and immediately reached out. That instinct led directly to one of the most unexpected creative units in Japanese culture today.
The unit first formed when JP THE WAVY created the theme song for Murakami’s solo exhibition Takashi Murakami Mononoke Kyoto in 2024. After that, the two continued working together, performing at events and building toward a mini-album. Consequently, by the time the Louis Vuitton collaboration arrived, MNNK Bro. already had a strong creative foundation to build from.
JP THE WAVY wrote “LV MURAKAMI” at remarkable speed after Murakami told him about the Louis Vuitton collaboration. The track also appeared in the official Louis Vuitton campaign video featuring Zendaya and Murakami.
The vinyl: what’s inside
This is a 12-inch (30 cm) vinyl record. It includes 3 original trading cards randomly inserted from a total of 33 designs. The vinyl features exclusive jacket artwork newly illustrated by Takashi Murakami. The included booklet contains design schematics of the car from the music video, behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot, and commentary on the creative process.
The tracklist covers three versions of “LV MURAKAMI”:

The video was directed by BRTHR, the duo known for Travis Scott’s “Butterfly Effect” and takes viewers on a journey through Murakami’s vivid imagination, following JP THE WAVY as he rides a mysterious taxi through Tokyo at night and gets lost in the world of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collaboration.
Additionally, the music video evokes memories of the 2003 Louis Vuitton x Murakami animation Superflat Monogram. For collectors who know that original campaign, the visual callback adds another layer of meaning to an already dense piece.
